About us

The Escola Suíço-Brasileira de São Paulo offers a bilingual education at an international level, which provides, in addition to a solid cultural formation, the tools needed for success, both in Brazil and abroad. It offers courses from Early Childhood Education to Secondary Education, according to the Brazilian calendar, in a half-day/full-day regime.   We currently have 760 students, of which 80% are Brazilian. The Teaching Staff is composed of teachers of various nationalities, predominantly Brazilian and Swiss. The teaching is bilingual in Portuguese and German, and the curriculum also includes English, French and Spanish.

The Escola Suíço-Brasileira de São Paulo is located in a privileged area, in Alto da Boa Vista, surrounded by lots of greenery. The building area is 8,500 m2 in 13,000 m2 of land.   In addition to the Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education and various diplomas and certificates of qualification in languages, students are awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma – IB, which gives them access to numerous international universities. Escola Suíço-Brasileira is recognized and supported by the Swiss Government, the Canton Patron of Basel and the Department of Education for the State of São Paulo.

SCHOOL HISTORY

The Associação Escola Suíço-Brasileira was founded on 20 August 1965 by the Swiss community in São Paulo. The classes began on 28 February 1966, at Rua Pedro Taques, in Brooklin, with 53 students.

Since 1996, the School has been a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization – IB.

In 1969, the cornerstone was laid for the construction of the school’s own building, at Rua Visconde de Porto Seguro, where it is located today.

SPONSORING INSTITUTION

The Swiss-Brazilian School Association, a nonprofit entity, supports the Escola Suíço-Brasileira de São Paulo and the Colégio Suíço-Brasileiro of Curitiba. The Association is managed by a Board of Directors which is elected by the General Assembly, with a term of 2 years, with the possibility of re-election.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The School has large classrooms, Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories, a Computer room, a woodwork room, ateliers of arts and ceramics and an experimental kitchen.
It also offers a multimedia library, sports gymnasium, children’s playgrounds, theater, canteen and cafeteria and a medical clinic.

Unidade Curitiba

The Colégio Suíço-Brasileiro de Curitiba, founded in 1980, is also supported by the Associação Escola Suíço-Brasileira. Situated in the municipal district of Pinhais, 15 minutes from the center of Curitiba, it currently has 600 students, from Pre-school to Secondary Education.

In addition to the Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education and various diplomas and certificates of qualification in languages, students are awarded the International Baccalaureate Diploma – IB, which gives them access to numerous international universities.

Swiss Schools abroad

Swiss schools and education projects abroad aim to promote Switzerland’s cultural and economic presence abroad, facilitate access to schools and vocational training abroad and/or in Switzerland and strengthen the relationship with the motherland. Swiss schools and educational projects abroad receive financial support from Switzerland, provided they meet the requirements of the Federal Act of 9 October 1987 on Promoting the Education of Swiss Youth Abroad (Swiss Education Abroad Act).
